Ahead of the 75th Constitution Day celebrations, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Sunday held a high-level review meeting to assess the arrangements. Officials from the Assembly, along with senior officers of the Delhi Police, PWD, and Horticulture Department, attended the deliberation.

According to officials, the Delhi Legislative Assembly will hold an event on Wednesday to mark the historic adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949. The gathering will host Lt. Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta as Guests of Honour.

A Coffee Table Book dedicated to Vithalbhai Patel, the first Indian elected Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly under British rule, will be unveiled on the occasion. Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the book commemorating 100 years since Patel assumed the chair on 24 August 1925, a statement said.

According to officials from the Delhi Assembly, the Coffee Table Book showcases rare archival photographs, key documents, and select excerpts from Patel’s speeches and writings. The book will serve as a rich tribute to Patel’s enduring legacy and India’s democratic journey by featuring curated archival material on the evolution of India’s legislative institutions and visuals of the modern Parliament.
