Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena once again shared pictures on his official X handle highlighting the misery of the residents of a JJ cluster in Delhi.

In a series of posts on Wednesday, the LG tagged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to draw his attention to the civic woes faced by the people living a life under hellish conditions calling it his duty to bring the issues of public importance to the notice of the CM.

In his post on X, Saxena said, “Being the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, it is my constitutional responsibility and duty to highlight the issues of the people before the Chief Minister of my government and draw your attention towards the problems faced by the people of the city.”

In the pictures uploaded on the LG’s X handle, he was seen with the Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, taking stock of the situation, most likely at a slum area where the residents informed him that around 35- 40 thousand people reside in the areas in about four thousand residential units.

The responsibility to provide basic public facilities in the area is with the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), he said, adding the CM was himself the chairman of the body responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the place was the work of MCD.

The LG said that he would be uploading some more heart-wrenching pictures with the hope that the CM would show some positivity on the issue. He said during his visit to Kalandar Colony located in Shahadara he found the living conditions worse than that of a hell.

A long stretch of potholes in the name of roads choked and overflowing drains, unattended garbage dumps, and people forced to live amid foul stench, their misery was difficult to explain in words, LG added.

All this is not new, he said, adding ever since he took charge as the LG he has been taking stock of the situation across different areas of the city.

The LG said so far, he covered 1600 km on foot and has always apprised the CM about the problems. “I have been doing this for the past one-and-half years, and will continue to do so in the future,” he added.

Earlier on Monday, the LG had visited the Sangam Vihar area at the request of the locals to take stock of the civic amenities and had taken to social media on Tuesday to draw the CM’s attention to the civic issues faced by the people by sharing pictures.

In response to the order, Arvind Kejriwal asked the chief secretary to address the issues highlighted by the LG within a time frame.
