Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a footover bridge at the Rajputana Rifles Regimental Centre.
“This footover bridge is a Diwali gift for our brave soldiers, who until now had to cross the road through a poorly maintained, low-height tunnel,” Delhi CM told the reporters.

Adding to her statement, Gupta mentioned, “The moment the Rajputana Rifles team brought this issue to our notice, the government immediately took action and sanctioned the construction of the bridge.”
Responding to a long-standing request, the PWD has initiated work on a footover bridge at the Rajputana Rifles Regimental Centre along Ring Road.
Since there is no proper crossing facility, soldiers use a drain culvert beneath the road to move between the regiment centre and the barracks.
“The earlier government overlooked this demand of our soldiers, perhaps because they failed to recognise their importance. Whatever the reason, our government has now issued a tender for the construction of the FOB, and the work will be finished soon,” Gupta asserted while speaking at the event.
The program was held as part of the Delhi government’s ‘Sewa Pakhwara’ celebrations to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
