Minister Kapil Mishra claimed in the House that while a special discussion to honour Guru Tegh Bahadur was underway on Tuesday, the opposition used inappropriate and offensive language.
According to BJP MLAs who filed a complaint with the Delhi Assembly speaker, AAP MLA Atishi had demanded a discussion on pollution and while laying down her case for such a discussion, said, “Kahte hai kutto ka samman karo, Guru ka samman karo” (They say honour dogs, they also say respect Gurus).
Mishra maintained the “dignity of the House had been violated and that the Gurus had been insulted”.
Following this accusation, BJP MLAs moved towards the Speaker’s chair and raised slogans against the Aam Aadmi Party.
Expressing concern over the situation, the Speaker deemed the incident as highly unfortunate.
BJP MLAs continued raising slogans of “Aam Aadmi Party maafi maango” (AAP apologise) inside the House.
The Speaker first directed the Leader of Opposition to come to the House and present her views, and adjourned the proceedings for a brief period amid the continued uproar. The house was later adjounred till 11 am on Thursday as the uproar continued.
