Ahead of the announcement of the poll schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Congress secretary Ajay Kapoor joined the BJP on Wednesday.

On joining the saffron party at its headquarters here, the Congress leader from Uttar Pradesh expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President J P Nadda for facilitating his entry into the party fold. “I express my heartfelt gratitude to respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji, and BJP National President Shri JP Nadda ji for including me in the Bharatiya Janata Party family,” he said in a post on X in Hindi.

In 2019, the BJP-led National Democratic (NDA) won a total of 303 seats, leaving the grand old party behind at 52 seats.

The Lok Sabha polls are expected to be held sometime between April and May this year.
