Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Friday that the Delhi government is determined to strengthening digitization, improve transparency, modernized offices, and ensuring action against corruption so that every citizen could access revenue services without fear, bias, or any difficulty.

Rekha Gupta was speaking at the launch of a special two-day training programme for Tehsildars and Sub-Registrars, organised by the Revenue Department, a first of its kind initiative taken on the CM’s suggestion.

The program is aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the land and Revenue Department of Delhi. The CM called it an opportunity to imbibe modern thinking, transparency, and administrative values that are connected to the real needs of the people.

She explained that, unlike some other states, Delhi does not have an ex-cadre system for Tehsildars and Sub-Registrars, which makes the initial training vital for new appointees.

The programme will not only help them understand the complexities of their roles but also equip them to simplify processes for citizens and ensure clean, corruption-free administration, she added.

According to the CM, the objective of the initiative is to create an environment in government offices where they are filled with positive energy, discipline, and a spirit of social service. She reminded the officers that government offices are meant to serve the people, and that citizens judge the government largely by the conduct of its officials.

She urged them to bring energy, discipline and empathy into their work so that people could feel heard and know that their concerns are being addressed sincerely within the law. “The behaviour of officers with the public is the real face of the government,” she said, adding that officers must carry out their duties with responsibility, honesty and dedication to maintain trust and strengthen the government’s positive image.

She asked to get rid of negative perceptions of government offices, such as unnecessary delays, disorder, and lack of cleanliness. Every officer should consider resolving the problems of the people as their primary duty, the CM asserted.

Gupta said the Revenue Department is that part of the government that is directly connected to the public, so employees there should have a very good understanding of how to serve and understand people, and at the same time have a good grip on their work.

The CM said that government officials must keep themselves updated time-to-time with the evolving techniques as per the scenarios in terms of technology and the style of work.

The event was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Bipul Pathak, Divisional Commissioner Neeraj Semwal, the District Magistrate and other senior officials.
