Rabeya Khatun, one of the two women who broke chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s security cordon to climb up the stage in Hemtabad here on 22 February, has been appointed as the ‘ward girl’ in the Raiganj Super Specialty Hospital after she was discharged from there on Sunday.

Miss Khatun, who joined duties on Monday, however, said that she is not happy with the job will discontinue it and meet the CM and ask her to provide her a better one.

Rabeya’s sister Asnara Khatun was also released from the hospital, where they had been admitted ever since the security breach.

As the chief minister addressed a rally in on the premises of the Hemtabad police station in North Dinajpur district in the afternoon on 22 February, Rabeya and Asnara broke the barricades and jumped on to the stage, while one of them fell on the CM’s feet.

Taken aback, the CM expressed concern over her security after the incident and rapped the police. The police have initiated a high level probe into the matter.

The women, sisters, are residents of Chhagalkati village under the Karandighi police station area in North Dinajpur, and they tried to tell Miss Banerjee that their father was killed by miscreants in 2015, and that the culprits had not been punished as yet.

“I was appointed by an agency as a ward girl in the Raiganj Super Specialty Hospital. I was not told about my salary, but I came to know that I will be paid around Rs 6000 per month.

We are seven sisters and three brothers, and the salary is not enough to run our family. I have completed MA in Bengali, and the CM had talked about a government job.

I am not liking this job. I was pressured to join this work. How can I work here after completing my MA? If need be, I will meet the CM again and tell her my problems,” Rabeya said. District Magistrate Aiyesha Rani was not available to make a comment on the matter.
