Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated the four-day ‘Flower Festival 2026’ organised by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in the heart of the city, Connaught Place’s Central Park.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Rekha Gupta called it a collective responsibility of the residents of the city to make Delhi clean, greener, and more attractive. Earlier, she said, people would travel to Kashmir to witness the tulip flowers, but today, due to NDMC’s efforts, people can enjoy the vibrant flowers and a wide variety of these tulips in the national capital itself.

Describing the event as a “Selfie Festival”, she said it has emerged as a major attraction for all the citizens.
NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra, Vice-Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal and others guests were present on the occasion.
Noting that the festival is being held during the month of Phalguna, the CM said it has filled the capital with colour and fragrance. She lauded the gardeners and officials of the civic agency’s Horticulture Department for their tireless efforts to transform the venue into a pleasing site filled with vibrant flowers.
She encouraged other departments to draw an inspiration from such initiatives to further enhance the greenery and aesthetic appeal of the national capital.
She commended the floral installations, pyramid structures and diverse arrangements, expressing confidence that with sustained efforts, the entire city could be adorned with flowers.
The CM appealed to the people of the city to visit the festival with their families and be part of the collective resolve to keep Delhi clean, green and beautiful.
Interestingly, more than 15,500 potted plants representing 48 varieties have been displayed across 18 themed sections in the event, including seasonal blooms such as dahlias, petunias, pansies, salvias and marigolds are among the key attractions.
The exhibition features tray gardens, landscape gardens, large hanging baskets, terrariums, Eastern and Western floral arrangements (including Ikebana), floral figures shaped like animals and birds, colourful floral boards, and specially designed pyramid, heart-shaped, conical and cylindrical floral structures developed as selfie points.
According to officials, the festival will remain open to the public from March 3 to March 6, 2026, with the entry being free of cost.
Stalls have also been set up offering nursery plants, bonsai, cacti and succulents, herbal plants, hydroponic systems, gardening tools, seeds, pots, fertilisers and decorative materials for sale.
