Charan Suhawa – the Guru Charan Yatra, a sacred procession carrying Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji’s sacred footwear, ‘Joda Sahib’, will commence on October 23, starting from the national capital and culminating at Patna Sahib, the birthplace of the tenth Guru of the Sikh sect.
The announcement was made in the national capital on Thursday by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, whose family has been the custodian of the holy relics for the past 300 years.

The union minister described the decision to place the Joda Sahib (holy footwear) at Gurudwara Patna Sahib in Bihar, recognized as their final resting place, as a “full circle of life,” stating that it is only fitting for the Guru’s footwear to be preserved at the site where he first took his steps as a child.
Outlining the plan, Puri said that the Joda Sahib will be carried from Delhi to Patna Sahib as part of the “Charan Suhawa, Guru Charan Yatra,” allowing devotees along the route to have the darshan of the sacred relic. He added that the Yatra will also include the presence of Guru Granth Sahib and the Panj Pyare (the Five Beloved Ones).
Prior to the commencement of the yatra, a special Kirtan Samagam will be held at Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib in Delhi on October 22, where devotees can have darshan of the Joda Sahib.
The Charan Suhawa Yatra will begin on October 23 from Gurdwara Moti Bagh. The Yatra will reach Faridabad by night on the first day. The next day, the procession will move from Faridabad to Agra, followed by a journey from Agra to Bareilly on October 25. The Yatra will continue to Mahangapur on October 26, Lucknow on October 27, Kanpur on October 28, and Prayagraj on October 29.
On October 30, the procession will pass through Banaras en route to Sasaram. It is slated to reach Gurudwara Guru Ka Bagh in Patna Sahib on October 31, before concluding at Takht Sri Patna Sahib on the morning of November 1.
The sacred relics comprise a single piece of footwear each, Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj’s right shoe, measuring approximately 11 inches by 3½ inches, and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji’s left shoe, about 9 inches by 3 inches.
The others who were present on the occasion included Delhi Gurdwara Committee President Harmeet Singh Kalka, General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, Takht Patna Sahib Committee President Jagjot Singh Sohi, General Secretary Inderjeet Singh, Yatra Coordinator Jasbir Singh Dham, and several others.
