Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha leader Anit Thapa on Thursday alleged that Morcha leaders Bimal Gurung and Roshan Giri had gone to Delhi to “flee from the law” and not to take up the demand for Gorkhaland. “If the ex-president of the Morcha, Bimal Gurung is sincere enough, he should clarify to the people what he has been doing for Gorkhaland during his long stay in Delhi.

He is not in Delhi for the demand of Gorkhaland, but to save himself from the law along with Giri. Both of them are doing nothing for the demand, while the Centre is also not serious, as proven by the speech of our prime minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha,” Mr Thapa said in a press release. “In his five-hour-long speech yesterday, Modi said that during the time of the BJP, three states were formed–Jharkhand, Uttarkhand and Chattisgarh, while during the time of the UPA, Telengana was formed.

But he did not speak a word on the Gorkhas or Gorkhaland, just as the way the Centre and Darjeeling MP SS Ahluwalia remained quiet during the 104-day agitation in the Hills. They only consider Darjeeling as a voting machine,” he added.

The statement further said that Mr Giri and Mr Gurung were not concerned about the family of the martyrs or those that have been arrested. “They do not care about their senior leaders who are still in correctional homes, like DK Pradhan, Tilak Chandra Roka and Pemba Tshering Ola, so what will they think of the supporters who have been arrested,” said Mr Thapa.
