Social security pensioners in Odisha to get winter allowance

Each of the more than 48 Lakh beneficiaries will receive the allowance in their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The Odisha government has decided to provide winter allowance to social security beneficiaries, a senior official of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities Department said on Saturday.

Under a scheme, each pensioner will get an allowance of Rs 300 lump sum amount in the month of December. More than 48 Lakh beneficiaries will receive the allowance in their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Around Rs 14.62 crore will be spent on the scheme, Social Security and Empowerment of PwDs Department sources said.

It may be noted here that Summer Allowance of Rs 100 per beneficiary had been provided earlier to the beneficiaries covered under Social Security Scheme.
