Computer skill centre in Odisha’s hotbed of left extremists

Malkangiri District Collector called it first of its initiative from the district administration and the Border Security Force (BSF) taken for the benefit of locals. It is a pilot project. In days to come, more such centres would be established.

In an initiative aimed at honing technical skills and create employment avenues for youths in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) hit areas of Malkangiri, a Computer Skill Development Centre has become functional at the Company Operating Base  (COB), Jantapai under the joint auspices of the District Administration and the Border Security Force (BSF).

It will be run by professional computer trainers of the BSF and will be functional on every working day.

The inaugural held on Wednesday, Shiv OM, Commandant, Sector Tac Headquarters Malkangiri and Sanjay Das, Second-in-Command/Officiating Commandant/09 BN along with other BSF officials graced the occasion.

“This is the first such initiative from the District Administration and the Border Security Force for the benefit of locals. It is a pilot project. In days to come, more such centres would be established,” said Vishal Singh, District Collector.

Apart from basic computer knowledge, the centre will teach youths how to fill up educational forms and book online rail tickets.
