With the inauguration of Delhi Metro’s Mundka-Bahadurgarh section on Sunday,  Bahadurgarh on Sunday becomes the third city of Haryana connected with Delhi Metro.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi Metro’s Mundka-Bahadurgarh section through video conferencing. Addressing the people through video conferencing, he said that this metro line will serve as ‘gateway’ of development as it will usher more development in Bahadurgarh and nearby areas.Businessmen, students and a large number of people from across various sections of society will benefit from this metro connectivity. With this connectivity, the length of metro network in Haryana has increased to 26 kilometers, the PM said adding that after Gurugram and Faridabad, Bahadurgarh is the third city to connect with metro.

He said that the metro will bring convenience to Bahadurgarh and surrounding areas, which is considered the gateway of Haryana. “We have seen how the Metro in Delhi has brought about positive impact on the lives of citizens. I have also several times travelled through Metro, Modi said.

The PM said in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR), the Metro has taken place of about six lakh cars. Process has been initiated to connect Delhi with Gaziabad- Meerut besides connecting Delhi with Sonepat and Panipat under Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), a semi high speed rail corridor.

The 11.2 kilometer long fully elevated Mundka-Bahadurgarh Corridor is part of the Delhi Metro’s Green Line. The Mundka-Bahadurgarh stretch, with seven stations, would be an extention of the existing Green Line (standard gauge tracks) from Inderlok to Mundka. In Haryana, the stations will be Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand and City Park while in Delhi, the stations will be Mundka Industrial area, Ghevra, TikriKalan and Tikri Border.

The PM said that as many as 12 cities were being connected through metro in the country. He said that after Shanghai, Beijing, London and New York, the Delhi Metro has become the 5th largest metro network in the world.

The metro has also become a means to establish better relations with other countries. Two modern metro coach manufacturing plants were being set up in Vadodara of Gujarat and Channai of Tamil Nadu, after setting of these plants, India will be able to export metro coaches to other countries as well, Modi added.Earlier, the Haryana Chief Minister (CM) ManoharLalKhattar said a cost of Rs 2028 crore has been incurred on this 11 km track and it will benefit about 1.5 lakh passengers daily.
