AAP councilors protest against cancellation of mayoral polls
The party may move the court after taking legal opinion on the matter, said AAP leader Durgesh Pathak.
The Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) Sikkim unit has expelled nine party workers who were involved in attacking their fellow party members at the Singtam party office on 29 January.
BJP’s Sikkim unit president DB Chauhan told a press conference here today that “hooligans” from their party have been expelled for six years and that the decision to this effect was been taken by the Centre.
The party terminated the membership of LR Gurung, Bhim Kumari Sharma, Elle Rai Paul, Tekendra Sharma, Lakpa Sherpa, Dawa Gurung, Kunga Bhutia, Adip Sherpa and Amar Singh Sunar.

“Discipline is of utmost importance in the BJP, and we do not tolerate indiscipline and rowdyism in our party. This is a message to everyone, within and outside the party that we take strict action against those involved in the anti-party activities,” Mr Chauhan said.
“We had informed of this incident to our party heads in the Centre, and they approved of the decision,” he added.
He also urged the media and the public not to entertain them if they justify themselves as BJP members as they are no longer associated with the party.
He further said that similar action will be taken in the future as well if any party member goes against the party’s statute.
