Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s vision of good governance continues to inspire: Delhi CM

Remembering former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 7th death anniversary, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said that his vision for nation-building, commitment to the welfare of the poor, and perspective on good governance continue to guide the nation.

On Saturday morning, the Delhi CM visited Vajpayee’s memorial Sadaiv Atal and paid a heartfelt tribute to the former PM.

Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma also paid homage at the stalwart leader’s memorial, stating, “Atal ji’s contribution to the nation, his unique personality, and visionary leadership will always remain a source of inspiration for all of us.”

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, while speaking to reporters, said Vajpayee was not just a leader but also a guide, a source of inspiration, and a true visionary.

She added that while paying obeisance to Vajpayee ji, all present resolved to take the country forward on the path of development and to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a Vishwaguru, following Atal ji’s teachings.

Several other Delhi leaders also paid tributes, while dignitaries including the President, Prime Minister, and Union Ministers had earlier paid their respects to Vajpayee.

Vajpayee served as Prime Minister on three occasions, initially for 13 days in 1996, then for eleven months from 1998 to 1999, and finally a full term from 1999 to 2004. In 2015, he was conferred with India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.

The stalwart BJP leader, regarded as one of the party’s most eminent figures, passed away on August 16, 2018. Party leaders say he has left behind a rich legacy that will be remembered for generations.

Vajpayee will be recalled not only for his bold reforms but also for his innumerable contributions that paved the way for rapid development.
