Assault on Kashmiri students: Haryana police arrest three people

A day after the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister (CM) Mehbooba Mufti Sayeed sought strict action in the incident relating to assault on two Kashmiri students that took place on Friday in Mahendragarh town, Haryana police have arrested three persons in this regard.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mahendragarh, S Dahiya said that three persons have been arrested in connection with the assault and the investigation was on.
Meanwhile, retweeting on Mufti’s tweet, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar has assured that the guilty would be punished. Khattar tweeted, “Incident had started with a minor collision of motorcycle of the accused. Three people have already been arrested and senior officer is on the spot.”
Notably, on Friday, Mufti had tweeted, “Shocked and disturbed to hear reports of Kashmiri students being assaulted in Mahendragarh, Haryana. I urge the authorities to investigate and take strict action.”
Earlier on Friday, two Kashmiri youths studying in Haryana’s Central University located in Mahendragarh were assaulted while returning to the campus. An First Information Report (FIR) was also registered at Mahendragarh police station under Sections 148, 149, 341 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
