Holi, the festival of colours and celebrations, turned horror for a Dalit family from Bhiwadi village of Rajasthan’s Alwar district after a 16-year-old boy belonging to the minority community was beaten to death.

The incident occurred on Friday when the deceased identified as Neeraj Jatav was celebrating Holi with people from other community and clashes broke out at Bhiwadi town.

As per media reports, the scuffle broke out between the groups over application of colours as most of the people were intoxicated during the incident.

Additional Superintendent of Police Pushpendra Solanki said Jatav sustained grievous injuries in the attack and he eventually died.

The officer added that prima facie no sharp-edged weapon injuries were found on the body.

The irate family members of the victim vandalised the hospital where he was rushed for treatment. A police vehicle was also damaged in the melee, police said.

The kin have accused three persons for their alleged role in the crime, they said.

No FIR has been registered in the matter yet.
