Ahead of BJP president Amit Shah’s visit, the state BJP unit leaders are worried given the recent electoral failures in the Bijepur bypoll and several other by-elections at the panchayat level.

The party boss is bound to grill them as to why after his Mission 120+ and “mo booth sabse majbut” programme, the party did not perform well. He is a hard task master and he will seek answers, remarked a BJP leader The fact that the state BJP president Basant Panda and organisation secretary S Satpathy had not convened regular meetings of office bearers etc is being talked about in BJP circles here.

Though everybody in the party here knows that Basant Panda is a lightweight ( critics say he is a dummy) installed by a leader who runs the show, none dare to talk about it in the open.

They fear reprisal and complete marginalisation. The discontent is simmering over the high handedness and one-man-show in the party here. Several senior BJP leaders are disgruntled , but they are scared of raising their voice.

Similarly, BJP circles confide that it is a huge mistake to sideline heavyweights and widely acceptable leaders like Bijoy Mahapatra and Dilip Ray just because one person’s domination will end.

Speculations are that the state unit will witness a revamp. Already the organisation secretary ( said to be a RSS nominee) has been changed. Mr Sarada Satpathy has been moved out and a RSS leader of Cuttack district is said to replace him.

BJP state president Basant Panda is also likely to be replaced. Several names like those of K V Singh Deo, Pratap Sarangi are doing the rounds but Samir Mohanty who is said to be backed by the lone person who wants to call the shots may be nominated to the post.

Shah will ask searching questions when he reaches Bhawanipatna on•4 April. But the response will be muted and the BJP leaders here are afraid of speaking out on the one single leader who has ignored and sidelined many of them.

Meanwhile, Bhawanipatna town in Kalahandi district has turned ‘saffron’ with mega cut outs of Amit Shah, flags etc. The venue – Lal Bahadur Sastri Stadium has a tent covering the entire stadium.

Shah will reach the helipad of Police ground in the college square of Bhawanipatna from Raipur around noon and drive to Manikeswari Temple before going to the venue of the meeting.

The state unit BJP leaders have made elaborate arrangements to ensure crowd mobilisation from al over the district. At Bolangir similar arrangements are being made for the Youth Convention to be addressed by Shah on 5 April. Party functionaries have fanned out to different parts of the district and bordering districts to mobilise youth for the meeting.

“We have plan to mobilised every register youth worker starting from booth level of six parliamentary constituency” said Tankadhara Tripathy ,president state BJP Youth wing. Mandal leaders have been asked to bring at least 50 youth from each panchayat to the meeting.

“Money is not a constrain, the more number of youth we able to bring the better it will be for us in making our prospect strong in party “ said a mandal president on conditions of anonymity.

As per report Amit saha will enter the district at around 9 am in the morning by road from Kalahandi district. He will be welcome by functionary at Belgaon and during his travelling he is expected to visit a village and eat at a dalit house.
