Officers of the NCB, Eastern Zone, as part of their continued crackdown on the alleged drug trafficking, have arrested the four students for supplying LSD in various schools and colleges.

According to NCB sources, the students of class-X were arrested red-handed for supplying LSD drugs among the students. The drugs recovered from their possession is worth Rs 1 lakh.

An NCB source said that the LSD was supplied from Bangalore and the arrested students used to supply them among their friends in the city’s schools and colleges.

The drugs used to be supplied through escort services, to which the students were party to. Continuing its crackdown on alleged drug racketeers, NCB, eastern zone, as part of its clampdown on drug abusers, arrested a 20 years old student, alleged to be a king pin from Nashik, Maharashtra on charges of smuggling of drugs.

To cap it all, what has raised eyebrows of the sleuths concerned is the connection of Dubai in drugGate. According to officers of NCB, eastern zone , the sleuths on the trail of alleged drug racketeers, on Tuesday arrested a 20-year old Kamalesh Baste, who the officers claimed was one of the lynchpins of smuggling drugs into prominent colleges and universities in the city.

NCB sources said that Tuesday’s breakthrough was part of their sustained crackdown on alleged drug abusers and linkmen, who are in the agency’s net so far.

The arrest of Baste, a student coming from a well-todo family was under their radar since Nilay Ghosh was apprehended in connection with delivering drugs to students of some of the prominent city colleges and universities.

“Following interrogation of Nilay Ghosh who was arrested in connection with drug syndicate, we came to know the name of Kamalesh. Preliminary investigation revealed that he was in the business of delivering the contraband LSD from Nashik, Maharashtra to his agents through courier service. Tracking the number of courier, our officers cracked the case by arresting him”, an officer of NCB, pursuing the case said.

The officer also claimed that what had made the arrest more startling was the revelation of Dubai connection with the city’s drug syndicates.

“Kamalesh has admitted during interrogation that he would send consignment to his agents in the city through courier following instructions from Dubai. He was just carrying their instruction as sent to him and he in turn would deliver the consignment to his agents employed in the city through courier, who in turn would serve the drugs especially LSD on the campus among students,” an officer said.
