4 held for duping woman of Rs.56 lakh

Four persons including a woman have been arrested for allegedly duping a woman of Rs.56 lakh on the pretext of sending money from Iraq here.

The victim, Nitu Sharma, complained to the Superintendent of Police Bikaner that she was duped by a man with whom she had came in contact through a matrimonial site.

The man had introduced himself as an aircraft engineer working in Iraq and told her that he wanted to settle in India after marriage with her.

He told her that he has sent 2.5 million pound through a diplomatic pouch service from Iraq.

After some time, different men called her posing as officials of the Iraq embassy and other agencies and asked her to deposit different amounts in bank accounts in the name of various clearance.

Believing them, she deposited a total of Rs.56 lakh to various bank account.

“After a detailed investigation, the accused was identified as Ajit Kumar Yadav and he was arrested. He is a resident of Jharkhand. Shrawan Singh Sodha of Barmer, Virendranath of Jodhpur and Anita of Gurgaon have been arrested in this case,” Inspector General of Police, Bikaner, Bipin Kumar Pandey said.
