Amid positive Asian peers, domestic equity markets started Tuesday&’s trading session on a higher note.

At 9.45 am, the Sensex at the Bombay Stocks Exchange (BSE) was trading 193 points higher at 28,096 while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 60 points up at 8,667.

In the broader markets, BSE Midcap index jumped 0.8 per cent while Smallcap index surged 0.9 per cent.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, Auto index became the top gainer with a jump of 0.6 per cent while Telecom index became the top loser with a tumble of 0.3 per cent.

Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: Maruti Suzuki (up 2.2 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 1.5 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 1.4 per cent), Hero Motocorp (up 1.3 per cent) and Gail (up 1.2 per cent).

Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: NTPC (down 0.3 per cent), Bharti Airtel (down 0.2 per cent) and Reliance Industries (down 0.1 per cent).

Meanwhile, the Rupee was trading nine paise higher at 67.08 against the US Dollar.
