Facing profit booking at higher levels, domestic equity markets started Thursday&’s trading session on a marginally lower note.
At 9.45 am, the Sensex at the Bombay Stocks Exchange (BSE) was trading 19 points down at 28,433 while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading eight points lower at 8,778.
On Wednesday, the Sensex had closed 109 points higher at 28,452 and the Nifty had closed 42 points up at 8,786.
In the broader markets, BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were trading flat with positive bias.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Consumer Durables index became the top gainer with a jump of 0.8 per cent while Realty index became the top gainer with a cut of 0.7 per cent.
Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: ICICI Bank (up 1.1 per cent), Gail (up 1 per cent), Tata Motors (up 0.8 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 0.6 per cent) and M&M (up 0.6 per cent).
Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: Wipro (down 1.1 per cent), HDFC Bank (down 1.1 per cent), Bharti Airtel (down 0.9 per cent), Power Grid (down 0.8 per cent) and Adani Ports (down 0.7 per cent).
Meanwhile, the Rupee was trading two paise down at 66.98 against the US Dollar.
