With polling in Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala over tomorrow, Congress' decision on Amethi Lok Sabha seat is expected soon along with the announcement of its Rae Bareli candidate.
The Lok Sabha on Monday passed the Railway Appropriation Bills and supplementary demands for grants for this year, with the total proposed outlay for 2017-18 pegged at Rs.1,31,000 crore.
The Demands for Excess Grants 2013-14 and the Supplementary Demand for Grant 2016-17 for Railways, presented in the Lok Sabha on March 16, were also passed by a voice vote.
The total proposed outlay for 2017-18 stood at Rs.1,31,000 crore, 8 per cent up from the 2016-17 budget estimates of Rs.1,21,000 crore.

The Railways' revenue for 2017-18 is estimated at Rs.1,78,350 crore, a 9 per cent increase from the revised estimates of 2016-17. The total revenue in 2016-17 undershot budget estimates by Rs.6,300 crore, according to PRS Legislative Research site.
The Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2016-17 was sought for additional budgetary support of Rs.1,355 crore extended by the Finance Ministry in the current year, consisting of Rs.200 crore for taking up certain works relating to video surveillance system at identified stations from the Nirbhaya Fund and Rs 1155 crore from fitting bio toilets in coaches, the Ministry explained.
The Railways' finances were presented Finance Minister Arun Jaitley along with the Union Budget 2017-18. This was the first time since 1924 that the Railway Budget was merged with the Union Budget.
