Majority shareholders of Idea Cellular have approved the merger of its mobile business with Vodafone India, a regulatory filing said here on Friday.
The Aditya Birla Group company got the majority shareholders’ nod for the merger approval in a meeting on October 12.

The shareholders meeting was convened following an order by the National Company Law Tribunal Bench at Ahmedabad.

The unit is to be developed by Hindalco Industries Limited, the Aditya Birla Group’s metals flagship, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The project seeks to create steady income opportunities for rural women by reviving traditional bamboo craftsmanship in Laumal and adjoining villages of Sambalpur district, said the company officials on Wednesday.
Aditya Aluminium, a unit of Aditya Birla Group’s Hindalco Industries Limited, is fostering sustainable livelihoods and environmental stewardship through Project Basketry — a distinctive initiative launched under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, implemented in collaboration with the NGO Uphold Earth.
