The president of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), Ramanuj Gangopadhyay, today conducted a pre-preparedness meeting at the Chinsurah Circuit House for the forthcoming Madhyamik examination, scheduled to begin on 2 February 2026.
Mr Gangopadhyay, responding to questions from the media, said that as in previous years, a meeting was held with the district administration and teachers to review the preparations and steps required to ensure the smooth conduct of the Madhyamik examination. He noted that last year’s examination had been conducted peacefully and smoothly; therefore, no new measures have been added to the existing preparedness and arrangements.

He acknowledged that many teachers are currently engaged in SIR work, making fault-proof preparedness and arrangements even more crucial. However, he clarified that the ongoing SIR duties are not causing any hindrance to the conduct of the Madhyamik examination.
The number of examination centres will remain the same as last year, although there is an increase of about two thousand candidates appearing for the Madhyamik examination this year.
