For the third year in a row, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) – the exam conducting authority of JEE Main 2017 – has registered a decrease in the number of registrations. This year approximately 11.99 students have registered for the test, reflecting a decrease of almost 1% compared to the previous year.
Besides, the numbers released by CBSE reflects that of the total candidates, 72% are male candidates and just 27% female. Interestingly 3 candidates, who have registered for the toughest engineering test in the country, have identified themselves as transgender.
Also, while the CBSE has introduced the online test taking system, nearly 85% of the test takers will be taking the entrance test in the offline mode while only 15% will be taking the test online.
