Trinamul Congress has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner against Dilip Ghosh, candidate from Kharagpur Sadar for the BJP and former state BJP president, for threatening the people residing in Kalighat and Chetla areas, flouting the Model Code of Conduct and demanded action against him.
Mr Ghosh made a statement after some BJP workers were found pelting stones at the residence of Dr Shashi Panja on Chittaranjan Avenue on Saturday when Mr Narendra Modi was addressing a rally at the Brigade Parade ground.

Mr Ghosh said that similar attacks can take place at Kalighat and the residence of Madan Mitra, Trinamul Congress MLA from Kamarhati.
Though he did not take the name of Mamata Banerjee, everyone knows that she is a resident of Kalighat.
In Bengali, he said that the BJP workers are ready and they would beat up Trinamul Congress workers across the state.
In the letter Trinamul Congress said the threat is a cognizable criminal offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The threatening of named individuals with grievous physical injury constitutes criminal intimidation under Section 351 of the BNS.
It may be mentioned that earlier Mr Ghosh had been cautioned by senior BJP leaders including the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for making derogatory statements against Trinamul Congress.
