The Trinamul Congress has started organising a public meeting to invite people from North Bengal for join the party programme to be held at Brigade Parade ground on 10 March.

Following instruction of the TMC’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, party spokesperson Arup Chakraborty today held a meeting at Rajganj in Jalpaiguri and invited the audience to join the rally named Jana-Garjan Sabha in Kolkata.

Highlighting a slogan Dak Diyechhe Mamata, Brigade Chalo Janata’, Mr Chakraborty said, “Following instruction of Abhishek Banerjee, I have come here to invite you…”

Addressing the audience, Mr Chakraborty came down heavily on the BJP keeping an eye on the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. Mr Chakraborty is scheduled to hold a series of such meetings in this region to invite people.

Speaking to the reporters, Mr Chakraborty said, “Deployment of central forces in West Bengal, before election notification, is totally illegal. The BJP-led central government does not follow the system of federalism, a basic structure of the Indian Constitution.”

On the other hand, the education minister Bratya Basu also visited the North Bengal districts today.

The minister today inaugurated a lit fest and Little Magazine Fair at ABA Seal College in Cooch Behar.

Addressing the audience, Mr Basu, said, “Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has brought in massive developments for this region.”

Quoting Winston Churchill Mr Basu said, “Mamata Banerjee is a stateswoman and she is different from other political leaders. Political leaders start thinking about elections only. But our chief minister always thinks for the next generation.”

Significantly, the Trinamul Congress leaders have reached out to the people, who have received the wages meant for 100 days’ job from the West Bengal government and taken them into confidence keeping an eye on Lok Sabha polls.
