Mr Kar recently joined Trinamul Congress and Mr Abhishek Banerjee, party’s national general secretary handed over the party flag and welcomed him to the party. Mr Kar’s candidature was kept secret and no one knew that he would be the candidate before Mr Banerjee announced his name.

People of Nandigram had approached Mr Banerjee and requested him to open Sebaashray camps in Nandigram. Accordingly, Sebaaashray camps were opened in Nandigram I and II. The camps were a big success and the people of Nandigram started shifting their allegiance to Trinamul Congress.

Political experts said it would be difficult for Mr Adhikari to travel to Nandigram and Bhawanipore to organise campaign meets. He will have to concentrate in Bhawanipore which is the constituency of Miss Mamata Banerjee.

Trinamul Congress leaders held a meeting today with the workers in Bhawanipur. The party is giving special emphasis on the wards where the party trailed behind the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
