The smart album, a creation of Dr Purnendu Sarkar, a renowned eye surgeon and recipient of Ananda Puraskar will be released on Saturday. Pro-people technology is used to treat people by allowing them to listen or watch various types of music, vocal, instrumental among others.
Talking to The Statesman Dr Sarkar said the smart album is like a plastic card. On one side of the card, the name of the album is printed along with a picture of the artist and on the other, information.

The other side contains a “hidden code”. Simply by scanning the code with a smartphone scanner, one can watch and listen to the songs, poems, drama movies etc from the album directly. Even with the help of Bluetooth one can enjoy the songs of the album in the sound system or home theatre.
He said there will be no need to search for songs on YouTube or other digital media. Any song can be heard instantly and directly from the album. One can create his/her personal music library. Artists will get more audience, exposure and recognition. Any song/ information of the smart albums can be changed, added and even removed as and when necessary.
With the help of smart albums, producers and artists can get many financial benefits. Smart albums will bring back the nostalgia of listening to music like the olden days, Dr Sarkar maintained.
A renowned eye surgeon, Dr Sarkar was first to introduce paperless chambers in Kolkata. He later made the Gitabitan Archive, where more than 2,000 songs composed by Rabindranath have been given in a single DVD. Not only the song details, even events related to the song have been incorporated.
