Scooby-Doo live-action series in the works for Netflix

The city of joy has always been at the forefront of creativity. The yearly calendars, from corporate houses to government undertakings and private bodies, have been a fertile field to showcase talent. Just like Durga Pujas in the city, themes dominate, which comes out through the monthly leaves of a calendar.
A civil construction major, Mackintosh Burn has chosen to pay their tribute to the famous writer, comic artist and illustrator Narayan Debnath this year.
The artist, who is mostly known for his famous cartoon characters like Nonte, Fonte, Bantul the Great, Handa Bhonda, has captivated the comic lovers for decades.

But he has other stories too in his repertoire, which find mention in the calendar.
The author passed away in 2022.
The calendar has his famous folk-verses, immortalised by Debnath. Verses like “Chand utheche, phool phuteche….”, Hatima tim tim, tara mathe pare dim…”. There is hardly any child who has not grown up hearing these folk- verses.
The company last year had captured the essence of Ratin Mitra, an exponent of pencil drawing through its calendar.
Mackintosh Burn managing director Benoy Majumdar said, “We like to preserve our city heritage. This is a good way to stay connected to our heritage and culture, for which Bengal is known.”
