The parents alleged that in the primary section, the minimum salary of a teacher is Rs 27,000 while in the post-graduate scale, it is around Rs 45,000. They suggested that the errant teachers should be removed and replaced by many able youths, who could coach their wards in much better ways

In a unique move, guardians of students studying at government schools have written to the state government requesting stern action against teachers who joined the strike demanding DA at par with central government employees.

The parents and guardians in different districts had refused to allow the teachers who did not turn up at schools and joined the strike and asked to explain why they had deprived their children.

The parents alleged that in the primary section, the minimum salary of a teacher is Rs 27,000 while in the postgraduate scale, it is around Rs 45,000. They suggested that the errant teachers should be removed and replaced by many able youths, who could coach their wards in much better ways.

They argue that during the Covid pandemic the schools were closed and the teachers were getting their full salaries.

“Time has come when the state government should ask them to return their salaries for not attending schools. Same logic applies to the state government employees who did not attend office, but got full salaries. In many states their salaries were reduced and no protest rallies were taken out against this,” the parents said, adding, “majority of these errant teachers were active CPM members and they were trying to utilise the situation,” they maintained.
