New Global Enlightenment Retreat Centre in Kolkata

The Brahma Kumaris Eastern Zone headquarters marked a major milestone with the inauguration of the Global Enlightenment Retreat Centre (GERC) in Ramkrishnapur, Kolkata on Saturday. Situated behind IBIZA Resort on DH Road, the centre is envisioned as a sanctuary for inner transformation, ethical leadership, and collective well-being.

Coinciding with the launch, the Brahma Kumaris introduced the nationwide initiative “Year of Unity & Trust,” aimed at fostering harmony, faith, and mutual understanding across communities. A trilingual meditation guide titled “51 Steps to Soulful Awakening” was also released, offering daily reflections rooted in the organisation’s teachings.

The event was attended by Justice Biswaroop Chowdhury of the Calcutta High Court and Dilip Mondal, minister of state for transport. Both dignitaries praised the Brahma Kumaris for their contribution to peace and ethical living, describing the centre as a beacon of hope in today’s turbulent times.

Rajyogini BK Jayanti, additional chief of the Brahma Kumaris, called the centre “a sanctuary of enlightenment,” while BK Mruthyunjaya, additional secretary general, highlighted its role in hosting silence retreats, leadership workshops, and meditation sessions. BK Kanan, zonal in-charge, expressed hope that the centre would guide people from all walks of life toward clarity, balance, and inner strength.

The ceremony concluded with a guided meditation and blessings, attended by around 800 guests.
