The Election Commission (EC) has summoned the mother, brother and sister-in-law of Khandaghosh MLA Nabin Chandra Bag after their records could not be traced during voter list verification.
According to the ECI notice, the names of these family members could not be identified during the mapping process. The commission has begun issuing notices to such individuals, asking them to appear for hearings.

Mr Bag said: “The names of my mother, brother and sister-in-law were clearly listed in the 2002 electoral roll, and they have been registered voters at Booth No. 405 and 406 for several years.” He alleged that the notices were issued deliberately to malign him because he is a Trinamul Congress MLA.
However, East Burdwan District Magistrate Ayesha Rani A said the issue was due to technical glitches. “In our district alone, we have identified around 10,000 such voters whose names could not be mapped properly,” she said.
