Five days after three tourists from Jaipur in Rajasthan went missing when their car plunged into the swollen Teesta river at Sevoke near Siliguri, a team of the NDRF has failed to recover some missing persons and the vehicle.

Alleging slackness on the part of the rescuers, family members of the missing tourists and local residents blocked National Highway 10 and gheraoed the Sevoke police outpost, around 25 km away from Siliguri, today. The family members also threatened to launch a sit-in protest until the bodies were handed over to them.

Residents of Bhanu Nagar in Siliguri, where the vehicle driver hailed from, also blocked the road and stopped traffic movement at the Coronation Bridge at Sevoke, while also demonstrating at the Sevoke police outpost under the Kurseong sub-division.
