Passengers would soon be able to enjoy a comfortable journey in local trains from Sealdah to Kalyani or even Naihati in first class coaches. The Sealdah division of the Eastern Railway is gearing up to run first and second class coaches in local EMUs, the proposed fare chart of which has been revealed.

According to the Eastern Railway, the first and second class coaches are to be introduced in five routes of the suburban section between Sealdah-Ranaghat that has a huge number of commuters. The routes between Sealdah-Bidhannagar, Sealdah-Titagarh, Sealdah-Naihati, SealdahKanchrapara and SealdahKalyani. All the five routes are to have first and second class of coaches with single journey and season or monthly ticketing options.

As per the proposed rationalized basic fare table, a single journey from SealdahKalyani, covering a distance of around 48 kilometres in a local EMU train, would cost the passengers Rs 90 in a first class coach while that in second class is to be Rs 15. The same fare would be applicable for the route between Sealdah and Kanchrapara, which is around 46 kilometres. Availing a season ticket for the routes would cost Rs 270 in second class and Rs 925 in first class coaches.

Likewise, travelling on a single ticket journey from Sealdah-Naihati, covering a distance of about 38 kilometres, could cost around Rs 85 in first class and Rs 10 in second class. A monthly ticket for the route would be Rs 765 in first class and Rs 185 in second class. From Sealdah-Titagarh, commuters would be able to travel by paying Rs 55 for first class and Rs 10 in second class on a single journey ticket. For a single ticket journey between Sealdah and Bidhannagar covering a distance of around four kilometres, commuters would have to pay Rs 25 for first class and Rs 5 for second class. A season ticket of the route could cost Rs 345 in first class and Rs 100 in second class.
