The West Bengal government is on its way to organise ‘Janakalyan’ camps at the block level on June 15, 16 and 17, to facilitate various schemes that have been launched or yet to be implemented.
The mega camps, modeled around the Duare Sarkar scheme of the erstwhile Trinamool Congress (TMC) regime, will be effective in ensuring last-mile delivery of the various projects launched by the newly-formed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

The Suvendu Adhikari-led government is on its way to implement several of its poll promises after defeating the TMC which had been been power in the state for the last 15 years in the recently held assembly elections.
The Chief Minister has assured that no welfare programmes run by the previous government will be discontinued. Women are already getting free bus rides in state-run buses, an initiative that was announced in its poll campaign.
The state government is also providing Rs 3,000 per month to eligible women under the Annapurna Yojana, also one of its poll promises. However, several beneficiaries are yet to fill up the form for this scheme, which they can now easily access from these Janakalyan camps.
The government has also promised to implement the Centre-run health insurance scheme (Ayushman Bharat) in the state, which was earlier blocked by the TMC government. Beneficiaries have been advised to fill up its form which will be available at these Janakalyan camps.
Beneficiaries can also get to know about various government schemes that might be announced in future from these camps.
Earlier, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said, “All initiatives are being launched for people from all sections of the society. Citizens will now be able to enjoy the benefits of having a double-engine government.”
West Bengal Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh had earlier informed, “Old-age pension and pension for widows will start off soon.”
Citizens are expected to flock to these Janakalyan camps to get the benefit of these wellfare measures.
