Jawans of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) recovered the body of a missing labourer who had intruded into the IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) of SAIL in Burnpur. The man had entered the plant grounds illegally about two days ago.

The body was found floating in an abandoned water tank beneath old blast furnaces numbers two and three.

Officers from Hirapur police station reached the spot immediately and the body was sent to Asansol Disttict Hospital for autopsy. CISF Burnpur unit sources said that they received information from unknown sources on 27 June that one person who had entered the plant on 25 June night, had not returned home.

After getting the information the jawans started combing operations inside the plant and found the body.

Scrap mafia frequently send in people into the plant at night by scaling the boundary wall to steal valuable equipment and material, sources said.

Though the CISF jawans guard the plant it becomes very difficult for them to guard the vast stretch of the boundary wall with the existing manpower.

The CISF reported attempts of theft of copper cables from old blast furnace number 2 and 3 on 26 June and a miscreant along with costly copper cable was handed over to the police.

Last year the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has ordered a probe at IISCO after one whistle blower and contractor Hribhu Bose lodged a complaint against rampant mafia activities inside the steel factory.
