Protesting against the Sandeshkhali incident, BJP state president and MP Sukanta Majumdar and his supporters agitated around the SP office in Basirhat.

A few BJP supporters, including women supporters, were injured during the clash with the police. Breaking through the initial police barricade, BJP workers and supporters entered, prompting the police to resort to a lathi charge. A barrage of bricks was thrown towards the police. Earlier, Sukanta Majumdar along with party workers staged a demonstration in front of the SP office, demanding justice.

Majumdar led a bike rally from Basirhat station to the SP office. Avoiding main roads under police scrutiny, they took alleys from Basirhat station towards the SP office. Sukanta engaged in conversations with daily commuters on the train. Sandeshkhali women have alleged that they were being harassed and demanded immediate arrest for those responsible. A protest march also began in Basirhat, starting from the Town Hall, through Boat Ghat by the SUCI.
