Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary and the party’s Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee has been summoned to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday in connection with the multi-crore cash-for-school-job case in West Bengal.
Abhishek Banerjee is expected to reach the ED’s Salt Lake office on the northern outskirts of Kolkata for questioning as part of the central agency’s ongoing investigation.

ED seeks statement in school job probe
The ED had issued a notice to Abhishek Banerjee on June 3, directing him to appear before the agency by noon on June 15.
ED officials have summoned him again as they seek to take the investigation forward and examine his alleged involvement in the case. His statement is expected to be recorded during the questioning.
Abhishek Banerjee, who is the nephew of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has figured in the charge sheets filed by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED in their respective probes into the matter.
However, he was not named as an accused in the CBI charge sheet.
Back-to-back questioning by agencies
The ED appearance comes a day after Abhishek Banerjee faced an eight-and-a-half-hour questioning session by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the West Bengal Police in connection with the signature-mismatch case.
The CID has also issued another notice to him. He is scheduled to appear at the CID headquarters at Bhabani Bhaban in South Kolkata on June 16 in connection with an FIR alleging that he incited violence and threatened Union Home Minister Amit Shah ahead of the recently concluded Assembly polls in the state.
