The Asansol Division of Eastern Railway recorded its highest Mail/Express train punctuality of 95.35 per cent on 29 January 2026, the best performance achieved by the Division so far in the current financial year. This is also the highest punctuality figure recorded during the 2025-26 financial year.

This marks the second occasion in the current calendar year that Mail/Express train punctuality has crossed the 95 per cent mark. The previous instance was on 29 August 2025, when a punctuality level of 95.12 per cent was recorded. The earlier best of 91 per cent, achieved on 25 September 2025, has now been surpassed.

The improved punctuality has been achieved through systematic operational planning, continuous monitoring of train movements, timely maintenance of assets and effective real-time coordination among the concerned departments. High punctuality was maintained despite challenges such as fog-related delays, road traffic congestion at level crossings, speed restrictions in certain sections and the temporary non-availability of clear train paths.

The Asansol Division handles a heavy mix of Mail/Express, passenger and freight train services. Its overall punctuality performance has improved under the leadership of the Divisional Railway Manager, Asansol, and further operational improvements are expected.

These measures have resulted in enhanced operational efficiency and improved passenger convenience across the Division.
