3 arrested within 24 hours of Burnpur trader’s murder

Within 24 hours of the murder of trader Mohammed Sarfuddin in the Karimdangal area of Burnpur town, Hirapur police have solved the conspiracy and arrested three persons.

The trader was shot from close range by two men following him on a motorcycle when he was going to offer morning Namaz yesterday. The incident took place near the Karimdangal Mosque. The assailants fled right after. The police reached the spot soon and took the victim to Asansol District Hospital, where he was pronounced brought dead.

“We started investigations and scanned CCTV footage and the mobile phone calls in the area. We zeroed in on three persons, who were apprehended. They have confessed to committing the crime and were ultimately arrested on murder charges,” said ACP Ipsita Dutta of ADPC.

Mohammed Salam and Mohammed Sadam, the nephews of the deceased, were arrested along with another person Rabinder Singh. Ipsita Dutta said the victim’s relatives had conspired to kill him over an old property dispute.

The murder weapon has also been seized by the police and will be sent for ballistic and forensic testing. The trio was produced in
court today and taken into police remand for further investigations.
