Survey on medicos of private institutes to fix stipend
The survey is being carried out under the directions of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The NMC has issued a notice in this regard on Thursday.
At least three persons including the key accused were arrested in connection with a shooting incident on Christmas Eve at Kamalgazi on 24 December, in which one sustained bullet injuries. The victim had allegedly been forced by the accused into a car following a tiff at a bar at Hiland Park and allegedly shot at him near Narendrapur, South 24-Parganas on Saturday.
Survey Park police along with the officers of the antirowdy section of LalBazar swung into action following an FIR lodged in connection with the incident. The person, who sustained bullet injuries was identified as Pintu Bag, a resident of Adarshanagar, Garia and the key accused, who the police arrested along with other two accomplices is identified as Chota Babu.
Pintu, the alleged victim is said to have told police that on the night of 24 December, he along with three friends, including two girls, had gone to a bar at Hiland Park to celebrate Christmas eve. According to his account, there was a tiff regarding sitting at the bar with another person, but the situation was brought under control by others in the bar. But when he came downstairs, he was forced at gunpoint into the accused’s car. Inside the car, he was blindfolded and hit with the gunbutt.

He was taken to a desolate place at Narendrapur, South 24-Parganas, where he was shot at but managed to run away from the scene and escaped by jumping into a water body. In the morning he phoned his friend who took him to the Survey Park police station to lodge a complaint the next day. Police sources at Lalbazar said that the thee accused involved in the shooting had already beedn arresgted. The key accused, according to police, was a miscreant and had cases against him over running a syndicate. The police are investigating whether the incident was the fallout of a longstanding business rivalry
