A senior teacher at a government school in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district has been suspended after allegations that female students were forced to strip during a search for a missing Rs 500, triggering outrage among parents and prompting a departmental inquiry.
The action was taken after education authorities received complaints about the incident at the Government Senior Secondary School in Liwali village under Bamanwas. A preliminary report submitted by the District Education Officer led to the immediate suspension of the teacher, identified as Saraswati Meena, who teaches Hindi.

According to officials, the incident began after Meena found that Rs 500 was missing from her belongings in the classroom. When the money could not be located during an initial search, she allegedly suspected that some students had taken it.

Officials said Meena, along with an associate, allegedly confined female students from Classes 9 and 11 inside a room. During what was described as an attempt to recover the missing cash, the students were reportedly forced to remove their clothes.
The allegations sparked protests by parents after news of the incident spread. Several of them gathered at the school and created a commotion, following which senior administrative and education officials reached the campus.
The suspension order, issued by the Office of the Joint Director of School Education, Bharatpur Division, said the action was taken under Rule 13 of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1958.
“Based on the report submitted by the District Education Officer, Secondary, Sawai Madhopur, on July 15, 2026, regarding serious complaints received against Saraswati Meena, she is hereby suspended with immediate effect,” the order stated.
During the suspension, Meena’s headquarters will remain at the Block Education Office in Rajakhera, Dholpur. She will receive a subsistence allowance in accordance with the applicable rules.
The case has been referred for a departmental inquiry, education officials said.
