Delhi Police have busted a self-staged robbery involving Rs 37.5 lakh and arrested three accused, including two employees of the victim company’s advertising and publishing business, within 24 hours of the incident. Police recovered Rs 36.92 lakh, four mobile phones and the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime, while efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused.

Additional DCP (North) Niharika Bhatt, IPS, said the robbery was the result of a conspiracy hatched by two employees of the company along with their associates. She said the accused fabricated a false robbery story to mislead investigators, but sustained questioning, CCTV analysis and technical evidence exposed the conspiracy, leading to the recovery of almost the entire stolen amount.

According to the investigation, the company employees were entrusted with transporting cash collected from clients when they allegedly conspired with their associates to stage the robbery near Burari Flyover. Police said one of the alleged robbers was initially caught with the help of members of the public, but the two employees deliberately facilitated his escape and later fabricated a story that he had fled after biting one of them.
