Delhi Lieutenant Governor T S Sandhu on Friday noted that Dwarka’s proximity to the international airport, its seamless connectivity, and its maturing urban ecosystem together make it investment-ready across sectors, creating opportunities in commerce, hospitality, healthcare, education and technology.

The Lieutenant Governor, who chaired an interactive session with leading industry representatives on measures to strengthen Dwarka’s emergence as a major economic and commercial hub, emphasised that urban redevelopment and infrastructure upgradation are essential to sustaining Delhi’s long-term economic growth.

During the interaction, the Lieutenant Governor placed particular emphasis on ensuring that Dwarka’s industrial growth remains clean, sustainable and non-polluting in character, steering clear of industries that could compromise the sub-city’s environmental quality.

He stated that the focus should be on fostering a labour-centric industrial base capable of generating large-scale employment opportunities for the local workforce, so that Dwarka’s economic rise translates directly into livelihood gains for the people of Delhi.

Reiterating a vision he has consistently articulated for the sub-city, the LG once again underlined that Dwarka, as one of Asia’s largest planned sub-cities, is uniquely positioned to emerge as a premier destination for investment.

The interaction was attended by leading industry representatives from the real estate and infrastructure development, hospitality, and healthcare sectors, along with the Vice Chairman, DDA, senior officers of the Government of NCT of Delhi and the Managing Director, ITPO.

The session focused on identifying policy and infrastructure interventions to improve ease of doing business, facilitate investments and make Dwarka a more attractive destination for investors.

During the interaction, the Lieutenant Governor appreciated the constructive suggestions received from industry representatives and observed that planning and development norms, including Floor Area Ratio (FAR), need to be reviewed and rationalised in line with emerging urban requirements.

He further underscored that the sector-specific policy measures are needed to enhance Delhi’s competitiveness as an investment destination.
