Indian Railways will operate more than 300 special trains for the upcoming Rath Yatra in Puri as part of elaborate arrangements to ensure safe and seamless travel for lakhs of devotees.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, accompanied by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, reviewed the preparations on Monday, focusing on crowd management, passenger movement and overall operational readiness. Senior railway officials and the local administration briefed the Minister on the integrated plan for the annual festival.

Besides the special trains, Railways created a holding area with a capacity to accommodate over 30,000 devotees, set up additional ticket counters, and made food arrangements while enhancing passenger amenities in and around Puri railway station.

Vaishnaw also reviewed safety measures and passenger facilities, reiterating the Centre’s coordinated efforts with the Odisha government to ensure smooth railway operations and effective crowd management during one of the country’s largest religious congregations.
