Strict action must be taken against spa centres violating MCD rules: Mayor Pravesh Wahi

Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi has directed all Public Health officials to maintain strict surveillance over spa centres operating within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

The Mayor said that any violation of MCD rules by spa centres would not be tolerated and directed officials to take strict action against violators. He also requested the Delhi Police to intensify surveillance and take appropriate action wherever necessary.

Wahi chaired a meeting with Public Health officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to discuss issues related to the department.

He instructed officials to take stringent measures to ensure that incidents similar to those reported in Lucknow and Malviya Nagar do not recur.

Wahi directed all Deputy Health Officers to hold weekly meetings in their respective zones and ordered enhanced surveillance and enforcement across all 12 zones.

Deputy Mayor Dr Monika Pant, Municipal Health Officers Dr Ashok Rawat and Dr Lallan Ram Verma, along with Deputy Health Officers from all 12 zones, were present at the meeting.

The Mayor also directed officials to closely monitor hotels and motels operating within the MCD’s jurisdiction and to take action against establishments found violating MCD rules.

He further ordered coordinated action involving sanitation inspectors against bulk waste generators, including restaurants, hotels and banquet halls, to ensure cleanliness within their premises and in the surrounding areas.

Wahi also directed that a policy on e-carts be finalised and issued at the earliest. During the meeting, officials shared their views and suggestions on the proposed policy.

He said that, under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is committed to providing better civic services and amenities to citizens.

Wahi added that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is also working towards promoting the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ initiative.
