The Haryana Congress on Saturday intensified its demand for an independent investigation into the alleged custodial death of a youth in Panchkula, with Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) President Rao Narender Singh urging Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to order a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe and ensure strict action against those found responsible.

The Haryana Congress on Saturday intensified its demand for an independent investigation into the alleged custodial death of a youth in Panchkula, with Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) President Rao Narender Singh urging Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to order a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe and ensure strict action against those found responsible.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister on July 3, Rao Narender Singh described the incident as a matter of grave concern and called for a fair, transparent and impartial inquiry. He said an independent investigation was essential to uphold the rule of law and restore public confidence in the justice system.

The Congress leader urged the state government to constitute an SIT or order a judicial inquiry into the case. He also sought the immediate suspension of the police personnel concerned and demanded stringent legal action against those found guilty after the completion of the investigation.

Expressing solidarity with the victim’s family, Rao Narender Singh requested the government to provide financial assistance of ₹1 crore and offer a government job to the victim’s wife to help secure the family’s future.

He further demanded adequate security for the victim’s family and key witnesses, saying they should be able to participate in the investigation without fear, intimidation or external pressure.

Rao Narender Singh also called for the inquiry to be completed within a fixed timeframe, asserting that all those found responsible should be brought to justice in accordance with the law. He maintained that a transparent investigation was necessary to ensure accountability and reinforce public trust in the state’s legal institutions.
