The Delhi Congress has alleged that the deployment of regular government school teachers for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is disrupting classroom teaching and adversely affecting students in government schools.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav claimed that the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi Government has assigned teachers from government schools in Bhalswa and GTB Nagar to Booth Level Officer (BLO) duties for the SIR exercise, despite the schools facing a shortage of teaching staff.

According to Yadav, the government school in Bhalswa has around 1,200 students, and more than 20 regular teachers have been deployed for SIR-related work, leaving only about 15 guest teachers to conduct classes. He also claimed that 22 teachers from a government school in GTB Nagar have been assigned to the same exercise.
The Congress leader alleged that assigning teachers to non-teaching duties at a time when schools are working to complete the academic syllabus could adversely affect students, particularly those from economically weaker sections who rely on government schools and may not have access to private tuition.
Yadav further alleged that the Delhi Government was prioritising the electoral roll revision exercise over classroom teaching and claimed that the large-scale deployment of teachers for non-academic work could undermine the quality of education. He also accused the BJP-led government of neglecting government schools, a charge to which the Delhi Government had not responded at the time of publication.
